01/28/2016 Bob Gager Monochrome Advanced

T his image was captured in October of 2009 during a visit to Savannah Chanelle Vineyards in the Santa Cruz Mountains of California.
We had a lovely day with a private tour of the vineyard, production area, and the cellars. It was slightly overcast which made for some great soft light with spots of bright sun. All in all, I captured a lot of great shots.
I hadn’t planned on making a photo session out of the day, so I only had a point and shoot with me. It just goes to show you that you can get some great shots with about any camera you have on hand.

I did a bit of post processing in Adobe Photoshop Elements with some help form NIK Silver Efex Pro 2. The strong edge details come from making a duplicate layer of the main image and then using the Graphics Novel filter in Photoshop Elements and setting the Blending Mode to Luminosity. I have a full color version of it as well that looks fantastic.
