02/25/2016 Kaz Hamano Monochrome Advanced

A fter my Canon EOS 20D was converted to IR, this was one of the first shots I made with it.

In October 2008 my daughter Grace and I were wandering around the meadow west of Lake Tahoe checking out everything when we came to this old zig-zag fence that looked quite photogenic. As we walked around it I made one shot when Grace was in the right place. Minor adjustments were made in Photoshop

I've been photographing since 1981, got hooked on darkroom printing, and often forgot to eat and sleep, until computer printing took over. I was reluctant to convert to digital until the quality and the price of cameras improved. My current project is to go through thousands of 35mm and medium format negatives and transparencies to scan the ones worth saving for future printing. This enormous undertaking is consuming much of my time at the moment, but will free up a good bit of closet space.
