I nle Lake is located in northeastern Myanmar. The fishermen of the area are known for their unusual skill at paddling their almost flat boats. Balancing on one leg, they wrap their second leg around the oar which enables them to stand to look into the reeds and keep both hands free to handle the cumbersome conical nets they use to catch fish.
The image was acquired early in the morning when we went out on the lake with three fishermen and was taken during a break in the morning’s effort to catch fish for sale later in the day at the local market.
